Under The Radar EPL Players

Everyone knows the names of the true stars in the Premier League who put up big numbers and get all the headlines in the press. With this blog I hope to give a little recognition to five players who are putting in high quality individual performances so far this season even though they may play for “lesser” clubs that do not garner regular headlines. On to the list!

[spacer size=”20″] 1. Mile Jedinak, DM, Crystal Palace

The Australian in his second season in the Premier League is a solid defender who can contribute with a goal every now and then. He is the sixth highest rated player according to Whoscored.com so far this season with a 7.64 rating and is the highest rated player in a defensive role. Jedinak reads the game well and is among the league leaders in defensive interceptions and aerial duels won. At 30 years of age will a bigger club take a look at him this summer we will have to wait and see.

[spacer size=”20″] 2. Victor Moses, AM, Stoke

Moses is at Stoke on loan from Chelsea and while he has only played in 14 games due to injury, the Nigerian has been very bright in the time he has played so far. Moses is the highest rated Stoke play according to WhoScored.Com with a 7.55 rating. He ranks second in the league in dribbles per game behind only the vaunted Eden Hazard which allows him to open up space and create chances from the left flank.

3. James Tomkins, CB, West Ham

Tomkins is a solid no frills 25 year old defender who has been linked with a move away from West ham before signing a longterm contract with the club this month. He is the highest rated WhoScored.Com player at the Boleyn Ground this season with a 7.53 rating (The highest for any center-back in the league as well).

4. Curtis Davies, CB, Hull

I have written about Davies in the past and while he may not be a completely mistake free player he is highly productive defensive player and is in the prime of his career at the age of 29. He is the highest rated player ay Hull this season with a 7.32 rating and is strong in aerial duels, interceptions and tackling three cornerstones in strong center-back play.

5. Leroy Fer, MF, QPR

Fer might be kind of a stretch for this list as someone has to shine just a little even on bad teams. Fer is certainly that player at QPR but I think he has shown enough to be included on this list. Fer has four goals on the season and is the second leading scorer at the club behind Charlie Austin. He also contributes quite a bit on defense and is not a liability at all in his own half of the field. If QPR are relegated a few mid-table clubs should be interested in him this summer.
